IFC has three main industry groups: (i) Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services (MAS), (ii) Infrastructure (INR), and (iii) Financial Institutions Group (FIG). It also has four regional units: (i) Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean; (ii) Africa; (iii) Asia & Pacific; and (iv) Middle East, Central Asia, Türkiye, Afghanistan & Pakistan.

MAS Europe Upstream and Advisory focuses on creating opportunities for private sector investments in the manufacturing, agribusiness, and services sectors across 15 Central and Eastern European countries. These sectors make up a significant part of the economic activity, creating jobs, providing goods and services, and stimulating growth.

IFC is seeking an Investment Analyst to support Upstream and Advisory work in the MAS sectors in Europe.

Duties

The Investment Analyst will collaborate with IFC’s investment and operations officers to identify, design, structure, and implement innovative and developmental Upstream and Advisory engagements, aiming for impactful IFC investments in MAS companies across Europe.

  • Support business development by maintaining tools for strategic growth, identifying development gaps, and potential private sector partners
  • Contribute to developing high-quality Upstream and Advisory projects through research and analysis
  • Assist in designing engagement models to maximize private capital mobilization and MSME development, leveraging resources across the World Bank Group
  • Support project management, ensuring timely and quality deliverables aligned with program objectives and KPIs
  • Conduct sector and market research, including company assessments and business model evaluations
  • Perform financial and credit analyses, build financial models, and conduct sensitivity analyses
  • Assist in credit risk rating and integrity assessments within IFC systems
  • Identify data needs and support data collection for project assessments
  • Prepare documentation for internal processes, reporting, and project supervision
  • Contribute to corporate initiatives

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related fields
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in finance or consultancy, focusing on investment projects or corporate strategies
  • Proficiency in financial statement analysis, financial modeling, DCF, scenario analysis, and company comparison
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights
  • Basic understanding of how MAS industry investments impact development
  • Excellent communication skills, including presentation and documentation experience
  • Ability to analyze problems from new perspectives and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills, prioritization, and multitasking abilities
  • Motivated, ethical, and capable of working in multicultural teams
  • Commitment to development and the mission of the World Bank Group and IFC
